 The answer to your question depends on how severe the toenail infection is and what your CD4 count is. Rarely, topical antifungal medications work; for others, nail removal or long-term oral antifungal medications are required. Most important in this point though, is that for many with low CD4 counts, the best treatment for nail infections is treatment of HIV. Antiretroviral therapy has been very good in improving fungal nailbed infections in a number of my patients. BY | ||||||||
