|+ for about 7 years and haven' done much of anything
May 20, 2004
I have been + for 7 years or so. Docs didn't want me to do anything th ecouple of times I've seen them and had labs done. When do I need do do something? Wait til I get sick? I travel 1.5 hrs to SF (UCSF) because I thought they were more hiv knowledgeable but they seem rather clinically detached to me ... any suggestions on what I should do or better yet to whom I should go see (live in stockton but will travel anywhere in SF bay area or sac area). I don't want to have wished I had done something earlier ..

If the doctors did not recommend treatment it was probably because your numbers were good. TheBody.com has an AIDS service organization finder and these local agencies are usually the best resource to find an HIV-experienced clinician. The American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) also has a listing of HIV specialists that might help you find care closer to home. Be sure to follow up and continue to monitor your health status. Good luck!
