HIV Meds and Drug Testing May 16, 2004 My fiance is HIV+ and recently failed a urine test at the request of his parole officer.He is currently taking Sustiva,Videx and Epivir. Will any of these cause him to test positive for THC or Cocaine? |

 Thanks for your question. Rarely, persons taking efavirenz (Sustiva, Stocrin) can have a positive drug test (overlaps with the test for marijuana, but not cocaine). Most current tests have figured out how to tell the difference. A note from your fiancee's doctor about his prescription medications can often suffice to sort this out. BY | ||||||||
