what are the blood tests that i should monitor closely?
Apr 28, 2004

in terms of monitoring HIV what are the blood tests that i should monitor closely, how will i know that the hiv infection is not getting worse?

Response from Dr. Young

This turns out to be pretty easy-- I typically monitor my patients' CD4 counts (immune status) and HIV viral load (the amount of virus in blood) every 3-4 months.

These numbers are the most important in determining your risk of having a HIV-related complication, or, the need to start on medications. BY
