Whatmedication is needed for beginning treatmnet of psoriasias?
Response from Dr. Wohl
If, as I hope, we are talking about psoriasis that develops during HIV infection, the best treatment is effective HIV therapy.
Psoriasis can complicate HIV and present with near total body involvement. In my experience, potent HIV therapy has helped along with topical steroid wraps. In some cases, systemic medications such as Soriatine are needed. While methotrexate is often used in severe cases in HIV-ngative persons, it is less commonly prescribed in the setting of HIV due to its toxicity and immunosuppressive effects. DW
