| counts and meds Oct 2, 2003 Dr Ypung: Got my lab results back, taken a few weeks before I started meds one week ago (by the way, meds-kaletra, viread and emtiva-- have been well tolerated so far. Tcells were 257 and vl 200K. My question is about my other counts. Total wbc count--3700, platelet count of 146, hemoglobin 13.5, hematocrit 40.3,lymphs 44.2 ionized calcium of 3.8. Question--1. Are these numbers something to be concerned about: Question 2 Are some or all of the counts probably related ton my hiv? Question 3. If answer to 2 is yes, will these counts improve with meds? Thanks Kevin |

Response from Dr. Young
Thanks for the follow up-- your labs are of no major concern-- the WBC and platelet count are marginally low, as are the hematocrit and lymph counts. These are likely related to HIV infection and should improve with therapy. BY | |||||||||
