|CD4 count length ?????
Sep 2, 2003
Hi doctor I was just curious how long does it take for your CD4 counts to get 500 or below after initial infection?
Thank you for your kind words and for your help.
Response from Dr. Wohl
The rate of CD4 decline is very dependent on a person's viral load. Most people do not realize it but the viral load stays pretty stable give or take some normal biologic variation (just like your temperature and blood pressure vary) and some test related variability.
If your viral load is high, the CD4 cell count generally drops quicker than someone with a low viral load.
Recall that a "normal" CD4 cell count can be around 500.
