vacine how far off?
Jul 4, 2003
Doc I started on treatment during seronconversion and VL undectable after 90 of treatemnt. Other number 46, CD4 1150 and ratio 1.64. My doc and I have talled about a year or two of treatment then seeing. I have been reading about the Phase study regarding Tat and the G? work recently found. I think on one hand these possible vacccine are at least 7 years off and on the other hand feel like why not keeping my immune system as healthy as possibe HOPING for a vaccine one day. Comliance is NOT an issue. Any thoghts. You are awesome - thanks.

I'd agree that a functional, therapeutic vaccine is still many years off-- if it actually ever materializes.
Until that time, we have proven treatments (HAART) that can keep your immune system healthy; the best application of all medical therapies is really preventive medicine.
Newer medications (we had two new drugs approved by the FDA in the last two weeks!) add significant options to our existing meds- such that first-line HIV medications can be very easy to take, yet retain excellent potency.
Good luck. BY
