HIV test POS in USA... NEG in UK.

I tested positive in USA.. then negative in UK. Same bands illuminated.. but they use different bands in these countries. Why is this? In Africa I would be Pos... in France negative.... I'm confused? Should I move back to the UK?

I can't speak to the differences in the two tests, though one possibility is that you're still in an early stage of antibody conversion.

Alternatively, the two countries might use somewhat different criteria for calling a test positive.

Either way, a confirmatory antibody test and HIV viral load should allow us to sort out what's going on. -BY
