declining CD4
Mar 7, 2003

Found out was + Jan 2001. CD4 has been, 483-feb 01, 425-may 01, 341-june01, 709-April 02 and now 410-feb 03. VL has been 560, 638, 532, 300 and now 300 respectively. I suspect I was infected in 1993. I do not like the current CD4 decline. I have not been on any medication. I do not have any symptoms. What do you advise?

Response from Dr. Wohl

Decline? Your CD4 count (Oor the lab doing the test) seems to be doing a bit of roller coaster ride but there is no clear trend down. Looking at teh CD4 percentage rather than the absolute CD4 may make any trend clearer.

You have been living with HIV for probably 10 years and you have a very low viral load and high CD4. I would not mess with success until there was a CLEAR indication that your immune system is taking a dive. Watch and wait. DW
