Can you please tell me if Bactrim can be prescribed for any other illiness besides hiv/aids. Or if it is prescried for any other illiness besides hiv/aids.

Response from Dr. Young

Bactrim, also known as trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole or Septra is a commonly prescribed antibiotic that it used to treat many common bacterial infections, like urinary tract infections or sinusitis. It remains the drug of choice to prevent Pneumocystis pneumonia in persons with immunodepletion, but the use of Bactrim does not imply that someone has HIV infection or AIDS. -BY
