Normal lab values?
Sep 23, 2002

Dear Dr. young what is the normal cell count for cd4, cd8, white cell, and red blood cells ,... also a normal or safe cholesteral ?leval, thank you for your time, Down and out in Fresno.

Response from Dr. Young

Thanks for your question. There is often a fairly wide range of normal values. Importantly, by definition, 5% of the "normal" population will have values that are out of this range. There is also some variation in normal ranges from lab to lab.

Here's a list of the normal values from one of our commercial labs: CD4: 359-1519 (30.8-58.5%) CD8: 109-897 (12.0-35.5%)

White blood cells: 4.0-10.5 Red blood cells: 4.2-6.0 Hematocrit: 37.0-55.0

Total cholesterol: 100-199 LDL (bad) cholesterol: 0-99 HDL (good) cholesterol: 40-59
