|once daily ddI

Could ddI be taken on once daily basis. My weight is 55 kg and I've been on ddI, IND and d4T since last 2&1/2 months. I've been taking ddI once daily basis, i.e. 3 tablets (chewable, 100gm)at a time.

From the sounds of your dosing and medications, I'd guess that you're not in the US.
Yes, ddI can be taken once daily- both formulations (you're taking the older Videx formulation) can be taken once daily, though many US providers are using the newer Videx EC formulation, since it is much easier to take.
Be aware, that a newer formulation of d4T (called Zerit XR) will also likely be approved for use as a once daily medication. Note that the current formulation of d4T should not be dosed once daily.
Lastly, recent data strongly dissuades the use of d4T and ddI together-- several studies point how significantly higher rates of toxicity with this pair. Other studies have shown increased risk of lipoatrophy and elevations in lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides) with d4T. I'd suggest discussing alternative nucleoside pairings (perhaps d4T/3TC) with your health care provider.
Good luck, stay in touch. -BY
