| Reply to boiling water - AF Jul 31, 2000 I have been doing drinking water research for PWAs for 7 years. Boiling water for more than 1 min. is unnecessary and can even be dangerous. The CDC has guidelines about water safety on their home page. Consumer Reports does regular reviews of filters. All water utilities must provide all customers with Consumer Confidence Reports with all the contaminants found in their water, and a warning for people with compromised immune systems. This is a useful tool. Questions: Lisa Ragain, George Washington U. Med Center: Dept of Environmental Health |
