| Source Qi Apr 19, 1999 My friend who is into Chinese medicine recommended Source Qi, an herbal preparation for weight loss. I was worried about taking it without first asking a doctor. My doctor knows nothing about it. I have had chronic diarrhea and have taken all the tests and am negative for everything including Crypto. I am at my wits end. I have had diarrhea for 8 months and have tried all the over-the-counter stuff (immodium, etc) plus I eat all sorts of anti-diarrhea food (rice, etc.) Nothing helps. Thanks for your help! Julia K. |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
I am sorry not to know anything at all about that herbal preparation. Generally, herbal medicines unless they contain some anabolic agents will not result in weight gain. However, if it helps diarrhea, it may help you gain a little weight. I would also ask your doctor about the advisability of colonoscopy or small bowel biopsy. Douglas T. Dieterich, M.D. |
