| GH deficiency? Feb 26, 2004 when someone decides to initiate rhGH therapy, is there a possibility that the pituitary will not function as well after treatment is stopped? might natural GH levels fall to even lower levels than the pre-treatment ones after the cycle is stopped? can symptoms of wasting and lipodystrophy worsen by going on rhGH because the body may become dependent on the drug, and then if it is stopped, the body go into a "crashing" state, similar to what is seen when testosterone therapy is stopped and the effect it has on the body and testicles? |

Response from Dr. Moyle
Changes in pituitary function has been investigated in GH deficient adults receiving GH and does not appear to be a common problem. GH production appears to recover rapidly after stopping GH although if an individual is GH deficient the levels are likely to return to previous deficient levels. Dependence, like that described wit anabolic steroids, has not been reported with GH regards Graeme moyle |
