Response from Ms. Fields-Gardner
First thing, call and make an appointment to talk with your doctor about your weight loss, the reasons why this has happened, what strategies best address those causes, and how to prevent it from happening again as much as possible. Much of the wasting that occurs is triggered by some event, physical or mental, that blocks appetite and the ability to get in enough food and nutrients to maintain weight. When this begins to happen it should be addressed before it gets too far... even 5% weight loss is too far. You will need to talk with a dietitian to help you to get past any symptoms that get in the way of your eating. It would be a good idea to set up some type of activity/exercise program as well. You may also need to address medication interaction issues with your team. Before you go, write down a list of things that you remember that may have lead to such a weight decline. It will help your team to ferret out the causes and best solutions. Get going! |
