|ANY EFFECTIVE TREATMENT? WHAT ABOUT SEROSTIM?
Nov 15, 2002
Hy huge stomach is having persons asking if I'm pregnant. Any effective treatment? What about serostim or liposuction? Triglycerides are off the chart. Any significant trials in NYC?
Response from Ms. Fields-Gardner
It sounds like chances are you are talking about altered fat deposits and not just a "fat tummy." Visceral fat that accumulates in altered fat distribution does not easily "jiggle" while normal fat deposits do. To make sure you get the right treatments, talk with your doctor about an evaluation.
While you can have the jiggly type of fat "liposucked" the visceral (non-jiggly variety) fat cannot reasonably be removed so easily.
Treatments may include appropriate diet, exercise, and metabolic medications. These medications vary according to your issues. Recombinant human growth hormone (Serostim) is a lipolytic medication that has been shown to help in reducing visceral fat. Other options (and you may use more than one, depending on circumstances) include testosterone replacement if you are hypogonadal, insulin sensitizers (such as metformin or rosiglitazone), and others.
As for trials in the NYC area, check the link below and keep track of new trial offerings by searching the ACTIS database (you can use the link listed here).
