Does milk cause weight problems?
May 21, 2002

In an answer about stomach weight gaining you advised a person to avoid milk. Why, does milk create a problem and how about lactose free milk, is it also a problem?

Response from Dr. Dieterich

Lactose-free milk should be OK in people who are lactose intolerant. Lactose intolerance is very common and gets more common as people age. It is easy to avoid lactose which can cause diarrhea, gas and bloating in people who have intolerance. DTD
