I understand through the web this drug also known as d- chiro inositol is useful for lipo. Where can it be bought? Any reason the experts never mentioned it?

Response from Ms. Fields-Gardner

It may not be mentioned much because while the research has been suggested in diabetes, it has not always panned out so hopefully. The reported effect was to improve insulin sensitivity, accelerate glucose disposal, and contribute to a reduction in lipid levels.

Potential for very positive research has been published by the manufacturers of the product. Caution should be exercised in this case. There has been a suggestion for the potential neural toxicity of oversupplementation, especially in persons with kidney impairment (the kidney is the primary place for inositol to be broken down).

More independent research suggested that the leap from improving levels of inositol and pinotol in the blood doesn't necessarily yield the therapeutic results we are looking for in supplementation, such as improving insulin sensitivity (see the link below) and by doing so, improve problems with fat losses and accumulations.

By the way, foods, such as legumes and soy, contain a good source of this substance. More research will help to identify the potential role that this substance may play in the insulin resistance see in chronic HIV infection. For now, food sources may be the way to go.
