Isologen?
Aug 4, 2004

I recently submitted a question about a natural 'filler' being used in England but didn't know the name of it. I have since learned that it is called Isologen - for isolating human collogen and it seems a preferable alternative to injecting synthetic substances. I looked it up and found several places selling it overseas. I hear now that it's in final trial stages in the US. Any professional opinions on this? It sounds quite promising. Thanks

Response from Dr. Moyle

It is an interesting product. A samples of your cells are taken, treated and grown in a lab and the injected back into the skin to grow and produce collagen. I have not found any reports on this being used in HIV and suspect the company would be cautious about handling HIV specimens (they would need a special licence to handle material from people with HIV in this way, quite how they exclude their customers has being HIV- I know not). You are right that the company is running some trials with the hope of getting FDA approval for cosmetic indications such as lip augmentation and acne scars. It's one worth watching regards Graeme Moyle
