questions on clomid
Apr 29, 2004

Hi Dr. Moyle

Two questions about clomid:

Is it contraindicated when on antibiotics?

Is it known to give boners? I'm getting these clomid boners... and truthfully, they're kind of awesome!

Thanks for your answer, doctor, you make HIV fun!

Response from Dr. Moyle

Clomiphene (Clomid) is used to induce ovulation, to correct irregular ovulation, to help increase egg production and to correct luteal phase deficiency in (infertile) women. It acts as a selective estrogen receptor modulator that acts as an anti-estrogen and tricks the pituitary gland into producing more FSH and LH, which, in turn, stimulates the ovary into producing more eggs and follicles, the testes more sperm. In men, clomid is not widely used but it is know to increase free testosterone levels and has been asoociated with improved sexual function, 'boners' as you so elegantly put it. There should be no imprtant interactions with commonly used antibiotics Kind regards Graeme Moyle
