Milk does the body good?
Feb 19, 2004

We all want that magic pill that will replace our body composition to what it used to be Including myself, my butt looks like someone punch a hole and let all the air out. Aside from all the tests that are been conducted today to counteract the affects of lipodystrophy. Can we do anything with nutrition? I have been taking the good oils for a while and noticed very little difference along with a medication change. I am lactose intolerant, also have found many of my HIV positive friends to be too. I was wondering if whole milk had a positive affect on replacing some of the fat on my legs, arms and face. I have been drinking the lactaid whole milk everyday to see if that will help me some. Maybe a combination of exercise (which I do) and milk may help replace someone of the fat we crave. Has anyone looked into milk? Does milk do the body good?

   Response from Dr. Moyle

No one has looked at milk specifically though full fat milk is high in calories and other nutrients so is a good 'snack' if you are trying to regain weight. See http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/418110 for a full discussion on nutrition/exercise and lipodystrophy
