| INITIAL VISIT TO SPECIALIST Jul 31, 2000 Dear Dr. I was tested positive last week. I knew precisely when I was infected: 3 months and 11 days ago. I could not get in to see the specialist for another 3 weeks. Is it too late? What should I do from now to the appointment date? I am always tired in the afternoon, what can I do to get rid of this fatigue? Will vitamins help? Thank you. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
I am not sure what you mean by too late. The fatigue is probably related to the active HIV infection and can last for several weeks after acute infection. The HIV specialist will determine whether treatment now or deferred treatment until later is appropriate for you. Vitamins, in recommended doses, never hurt, but may not improve the fatigue. MH | |||
