| Blip or Real ? Sep 3, 2000 Dr Holodniy. I am a very afraid of that, since I have no explanation for this. I am infected since 6 years. Here is my history (6 month intervals): CD4%:30 CD4:840 VL:<500 CD4%:38 CD4:1133 VL:<500 CD4%:30 CD4:655 VL:<500 CD4%:34 CD4:1006 VL:388 CD4%:34 CD4:1045 VL:2200 (vaccinated against Tetanus) CD4%:39 CD4:529 VL:606 CD4%:34 CD4:837 VL:324 CD4%:36 CD4:1015 VL:5056 Why is my last VL so high ? I had no vaccinations nor was I sick. From your experience, do you have many jumps like this and what is the most common cause for this ? I will recheck VL in 6 weeks. Would you recommend that I do an examination for other co-infections and if yes which ? Thank you very much for your help and information. A. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
It's a curious blip. If you say nothing was going on, then I have no explanation. It clearly hasn't affected your CD4 count or percentage. I think the appropriate thing is to recheck. Your counts are so good, there would not be any need to consider any HIV associated opportunistic infections. If you have not symptoms of anything, I would just wait for the next test. MH | |||||||||
