| just asking Jan 15, 1999 I was on D4t/3T4 crixivan and the crixivan was changed to viracept due to side effects(not drug failure). my viral load is now above 400cp/ml. I want to know if i can switch back to the crixian and still have it be effective inso much as reduction of viral load to less than 400 cp/ml? Also my load is 1181 with Tcells at 145. I want to know if DDI/D4t? Hydroxurea+crixian is an acceptable regiment and what kind of results I might expect? |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
You did not say what kind of side effects you had with crixivan. Assuming they were GI related and not kidney stones, and you can live with the side effects, it is not unreasonable to go back. The time for any intervention would be now, when the viral load is still low. I would probably retest to confirm that the viral load is indeed staying above 400 before changing. I use a fair amount of ddI/hydrea and the combination you have outlined is reasonable, and should probably get your viral load below 50. MH | |||
