| Consistent Viral Load and CD4 Sep 28, 2001 Hi Doctor, I have been positive for 2 years. I have had consistent VL and CD4 counts. VL around 30,000 copies and CD4 around 750. Can you answer 2 questions. Can tests indicate likely infection timeframe and likely medical treatment being required Thank you |

There are no tests to answer your first question. In terms of treatment being required, current guidelines suggest treatment should be started when the CD4 count is < 350 and/or a viral load > 30-55,000/ml. You are at a stage where I would recommend holding off starting therapy, but still continuing to monitor your numbers. MH | |||
