| Lucky One? Sep 28, 2001 First of all thank you again for your time and effert...it could not be said enough!! I discovered that I was HIV+ almost three years ago to the date. I am not certain when I was infected, however I feel that it could have been sometime before 1995. My first stats were 16,600VL/660TC, after that I have had my blood work done every three months...17,000/1084TC, 8,400/786TC, 18,000/771TC, 12,850/641TC, 31,000/756TC, 35,000/805TC, 27,452/896TC, and most recently 46,688/945TC. I am very healthy and try to take good care of myself. My Doctor is a HIV specialist in NYC. At my last appointment he more or less said that it would be a very long time before I would need any kind of treatment and he went on to say...if ever. Could I be one of the lucky ones that is able to control the virus...is it possible to live with the virus at higher levels as long as my TC remain high? Any other thoughts? Thank You Lucky one? |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
You could be one of the lucky ones. Only time will tell. I agree with your doctor, I would not recommend treatment at this point. However, that does not mean I would not continue to follow your numbers. We don't have alot of long term followup on people with very high t cells and high viral loads. So your situtation is somewhat different than long term nonprogressors with very low or undetectable viral loads. MH | |||
