| Sex with HIV Positive Women Mar 22, 1999 Doctor..Thanks for caring and helping so many people. I was in a relationship for 3 months with HIV (unknow to them) and our relationship ended with this HIV positive news. I have have both HIV EIA tests and RNA PCR tests at 6 weeks and 12 weeks past know HIV exposure and both where non reactive and no HIV found. Can I rule it out..no symptoms other that stress. What should my next step be in trying to detirmine my status? Thank You |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
Given the fact that both antibody and HIV RNA tests are negative at 6 weeks and 3 months, it is extremely unlikely that you have HIV infection. Given the fact that you have had serial RNA tests, the recommended HIV antibody test at 6 months is probably not necessary. Unless it's for your piece of mind. MH | |||||||||
