Can I be cartain my viral load results are accurateMay 6, 1999 Dear Dr.Holodniy - Quick question...I have been very terrified that I had been infected with the HIV virus. I was involved in very risky behavior over 2 months ago. Just about 2 weeks ago I decided to get a Viral Load test to see if "for sure" I had been infected or not. My Doctor assured me that this was a very accurate test and told me that even if I had not developed antibodies yet, this test would show if I contracted the virus during that experience. What my question is - Was 2 months ago, a long enough window period to see if I had contracted the virus(using the "accurate" Viral Load test)? Again, my Doctor assured me that I had nothing to worry about - I would truly love to have your opinion. PLEASE HELP CALM MY NERVES!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!! |
