Just a Simple Question
Aug 3, 1999

Dear Dr., I recently went to donate blood, when filling out the paper work I noticed they were using a new test called (GAT)? for viral Genome testing. Is this the same as a PCR DNA or viral load test? If it is a viral load test how many copies does it test down to? I was just curious. Thank you for your time and Help.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

It is a viral load test. I assume it is the <50 copy test.
