Could you explain the nucleic acid test? Is it a PCR test?

PCR or polymerase chain reaction is a technology that is used to detect or quantitate DNA or RNA. PCR is one type of technology used for nucleic acid testing (NAT). NAT is used to detect HIV, HCV and HBV in pools of samples tested at blood banks.
