Have you ever heard?
Sep 21, 1998

Hello,

Have you ever heard of someone having thrush, swollen glands throughout the body, fatigue and yet not have HIV? I have had these distrubing symptoms for over 5 months, my exposure was over 9 months ago and ever test, from 3 labs, including PCR DNA and HIV ANTIBODY FOR 1 and 2 and RNA tests have been NEGATIVE. Whats your take.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

This appears to be a common theme on this website. I agree with the concept that HIV infection is not what is causing these symptoms. So further HIV testing is not recommended. It is hard to make diagnoses over the internet. It is important to work with your health care provider to rule out other potential infectious causes or malignancies. What I don't have a grasp on is whether this is a self select group describing these symptoms, or is this common place. In addition, I never hear any followup as to whether something else was found, or it just went away. Good Luck. MH
