AMI THE .01% ?
Dec 21, 1998

DOC, HAD VAGINAL INTERCOURSE INMARCH OF THIS YEAR WITH RISKY FEMALE. 3 MONTHS LATER I DEVELOPED SEBORREIC DERMATITIS. 5 MONTHS LATER I DEVELOPED A DRY MOUTH, PRICKLY FEELINGS IN LIMBS (MOSTLY AT NIGHT), AND WOKE UP ONE DAY COMPLETELY DRAINED, TIRED. THE FATIGUE LASTED HARD FOR FOUR DAYS, THEN IT SLOWLY WENT AWAY, AS TODAY I HAVE PLENTY OF ENERGY. THE PRICKLY FEELINGS ALSO WERE HARD FOR A WEEK OR SO AND HAVE IMPROVED, ALTHOUGH I STILL FEEL SOME DISCOMFORT AT NIGHT. THE DRY MOUTH HAS ALSO IMPROVED BUT COMES AND GOES (LESS FREQUENT NOW). I TESTED FOR HIV (ELISA) AT MONTHS 4,5, AND 6. RESULTS NEGATIVE. SHOULD I KEEP LOOKING AND RETEST FOR HIV?? WOULD APPRECIATE VERY MUCH YOUR INSIGHT. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, MY BEST PERSONAL REGARDS. PB.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Your symptom complex is very nonspecific. Given the number of negative HIV tests and the timing, I would not pursue further testing. MH
