Just Curious?
Jan 14, 1999

Doctor,

Someone wrote you to recently asking whether CMV would cause yeast infection in the mouth. Your answer was no, however, this person was HIV Negative - testing 9 months after an exposure.....could this person still have HIV yet show up negative on the test? Would else would cause this...EBV?

Just curious

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Extremely unlikely to be HIV infected and have negative antibody tests after 9 months. Unlikely that EBV would either. The yeast infection needs to be confirmed that it is indeed a yeast. MH
