Undectable VL yet CD4 are Droppinh
Sep 8, 2001

In March, VL und. and CD4 were 324. In August, VL remains Und. yet cd4 dropped to 295. I'm a bit concerned. I live a very healthy life. I'm muscular and I look great!, yet my results reflect that my cd'4 are spiraling towards AIDS. Is my immune system so suppressed that I'll eventually succumb to opportunistic infections and death sooner than most HIV-Positive people? My doctor seems to be apathetic about my results. It's as if his responses are so politcally correct to protect himself. I want to be told, bluntly, what's really going on with me. I'm not afraid of this diesease. rather, I fear not knowing my options. FYI: I'm taking zerit, epivir and sustiva (2,2,3 per day)

Response from Dr. Holodniy

I would like to know two things if I were evaluating this change. What has the CD4 absolute count and CD4 percentage been over time? I would suspect that your CD4 percent is stable and that your absolute CD4 count is fluctutating. The CD4 percent is a much more stable number over time. MH
