| alcohol? Sep 8, 2001 I know you don't wish to answer testing questions anymore, however, you state that "that level of alcohol consumption" would not effect an antibody test on several occassions. Well , what level would? IF I was tested 5 years after exposure. but I drink a six pack a night, and for five months was under stress and drank and lost 6 pld.s, would this make my antibodies go away, or not be there, causing a false negative . Please, Please, Please answer. CDC says no, but from reading your account, I'm concerned. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
The question you pose has never been studied directly. However, there are many people who are HIV infected and consume alcohol daily (of varying amounts), who have very detectable levels of HIV antibodies. We do not know whether there are people who are HIV infected and consume lots of alcohol, and have negative HIV antibody tests. | |||
