42 hour med guy again!HELP!
Mar 1, 1999

Thank you for answering my question so fast! You're the best! I need you help because I am very nervous about my test result in two days. I just developed a sunburn like rash on my right shoulder about 3x2inches.(not itchy but feels hot)My exposure was Nov.21,98. I started to have diarrhea about 4 weeks ago and it stopped two weeks later but my stomach still feels unsettled and stools are still light and loose. A few days ago I had a swollen lymph node behind my ear and it went away afterwards,..now :itchy under armpits, small raised red bumps on my left forearm-very itchy-,off and on headaches, back pain and back feels hot and itchy(can anxiety cause rashes/dry itchy skin?). My life is falling apart because this is all I am thinking about..my university marks have plummeted..I feel hopeless(I am seeing a psychologist) but I really want to be sure of my status and I need to get on with my life before I go crazy. .So with the PEP 42 hours after exposure...if I test negative this time (about 13 weeks post exp.) how sure can I be? (Can I still be 95-98% sure like the others who didn't PEP? Thanks...Wish me luck! :)

Response from Dr. Holodniy

I doubt all your symptoms are HIV related. If this test is negative you are in that 98% group. MH
