Waiting for opportunistic infection!!
Mar 25, 1999

Dr.Holodniy, Appox. 11 years ago I had unprotected sex with a South African women, shortly thereafter I experienced classic ARS symptoms.Presently I am suffering symptoms that are strongly suggestive of HIV disease, lymphadenopathy, severe fatigue, bacterial skin infections, intense itching, malaise, floaters, and oral bleeding. My labs are HIV1,HIV2,ELISA and PCR all NEG.IgA 280,IgG 1407.Would you suggest I pursue further testing{if so where}or continue suffering without meds. untill an opportunistic occurs. Please advise.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

You did not say what your blood cell, platelet, or T cell counts were. Although it is very unlikely that your symptoms are related to HIV infection, other infections or malignancies should be ruled out as well. MH
