Swollen nodes/Aching Neck/Headache

Jul 21, 1999

Dr. I have recently been experiencing a dull ache in my neck. I let a nurse check my glands to see if they were swollen, she said they were so I went to the doctor to see what the problem was. He asked what symptoms I had had and I told him about a slight sore throat I had about a week and a half ago, then my neck started to ache. So they tested my blood and also checked my for strep throat. The strep throat test came out positive. The blood test showed that my white blood cell count was down slightly idicating a virus he said. He said if I had been really working hard, my body could be run down and allowed the virus in. I have been working hard. He also found that my lymphocyte count was up. Please tell me if its just strep throat or possibly hiv.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Although certainly diseases can occur together, you have given me no information that would indicate that this is anything other than strep throat. MH
