| Viral load after one year Sep 2, 2001 Dr. Holodniy, I hope this doesn't seem like a stupid question to you, because I must ask it.I have talked to you several times about my brother in law, whom last year was diagnosed with AIDS. He miraculously overcame the P.C.P, and lived...Thank God. My question is this...After a year of treatment he still cannot get his cd4's over 200 they are at 150 and dropping once again. Viral load was undetectable and now rising over 8,000 now. There is one Dr. here where I live that has lots of experience in this field. His wife and I have been trying to get him to go, but he is scared. We (his wifer and I) feel like time is being wasted...if you understand what I mean. Time...his life...Or would you say, he is doing good? Thank you so much for all the times you have answered my questions!!! I haven't been on in a while and I have forgotten some things that I have learned about this virus....Jennifer |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
If he is still on treatment and his viral load is 8,000, then one of 3 things is going on. He is either not taking his meds correctly, or he is taking his meds and he has resistant virus or there is some interaction with other meds he is taking reducing the blood levels of the HIV meds. MH | |||
