WHAT CAUSES PAROTID GLANDS (JUST ONE AND ON ONLY ONE SIDE)TO BE HARD AND ENLARGED SOME W/OUT HIV INFECTION? I KNOW I DONT HAVE MUMPS. IT DOESNT REALLY HURT TOO MUCH BUT I JUST NOTICE IT THERE.I DO HAVE A TOOTH (WISDOM) TOOTH THERE THAT NEED REMOVAL.MAYBE THAT IS THE CAUSE????I TEST NEG. AS OF NOW. I READ LOTS OF POSITIVE PEOPLE WILL HAVE PAROTID ENLARGEMENT. WORRYS ME. IT IS RIGHT BELOW MY EAR ON THE NECK ALMOST.THANKS.

Some times the ducts leading from the gland into the mouth get plugged by little stones and the parotid fluid backs up causing swelling. Another reason is bacterial infections with Staph. MH
