| virus load/antibodies Aug 18, 2001 Hi Mark, I had several convincing signs of ars (including mild fever) three weeks after a 'low risk' exposure (oral sex). I was tested 7 weeks after exposure with an antibody test, this was negative. My symptons started after 3 weeks, stopped after 6. My questions are: 1. As my symptons had stopped, does this mean that antibodies would have been produced? is there any correlation between the timing of ars and antibody production? 2. I've heard testing accuracy at 7 weeks is over 90 (the three month margin is to be on the safe side) - do you agree? I was hoping to be able to relax once i was tested negative, but having thought about it i'm a mess again - do you think i have reason to be? Please answer. |

In general, in those who are HIV infected, antibodies are present after symptoms have resolved. | |||
