| need an answer please Apr 19, 1999 hi doc i thought i was it over this but im just wondering is 3 elisa test last being 6 months after an indetermined result good enough or should i have done a western blot im a little confused elisa would have been reactive 6 months after an indetermined i assume.i read in some of your responses that you said most of the time an indetermined results means ealy hiv infection my last exposue was 13 months ago i just tested neg 4 days ago on the elisa,you think the western blot would have been reactive but not elisa please explain |

Yes, most indeterminate western blots evolve into HIV infection. But most of these evolve into positive western blots with a concomitant positive ELISA test. A few people may have indeterminate western blots and not be HIV infected. These people usually have negative ELISA tests. In your case, the exposure was long enough ago, that the last ELISA test indicates to me that you are not HIV infected. MH | |||
