Hi doc. Does discharge (clear fluid) from chlamydia contains hiv? More or less than in blood of the same amount in the same person at the same time? When somebody has gonorrhea, does the pus-discharge contains hiv? Thank you for your answer.
Response from Dr. Holodniy
In HIV infected people, vaginal/cervical fluid and/or seminal fluid does contain infectious HIV. In general the amount of virus in these fluids (in the absence of HIV treatment) is about 10 times less than in blood.
