RE: HIV and Sed rate

Aug 5, 2001

Dr. Holodniy,

Thanks for answering my question. Is my doctor correct in stating if I were infected with HIV (any type) my sed rate would be much greater than 2? (I also had a negative ELISA at 6 months post exposure.) Thanks!

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Again, this is a very nonspecific test and the normal range is 0-20. This is not a test to be used to determine whether HIV infection is present or not.
