false negative test results

Feb 17, 2000

Is it possible to receive a false negative. My cd4+ is 658 and my cd8+ is 255. the percentage of my cd4+ keeps dropping and my percentage of cd8+ rising?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Yes, It depends on the type of test (antibody, viral load) and when the test was taken relative to potential exposure. Although your CD4 count is in the normal range, your CD8 count is a bit low.
