Tailand
Aug 4, 2001

Dear Mark,Thankyou for this great service. I had a high-risk exposure in Thailand with prostitutes. Five weeks latter experienced severe diareah, muscle pain nightsweets, loss of appertite, swollen burning legs, these are still present after 5 months.I tested negative ELISA 3,5 months I live in Britain would a subtype caught in Thailand be missed on a test here? I have been working with my doctor he has no ideas. On your site I read allot about viral cultures, RIP, DNA, PCR tests etc, but can't seem to find anywhere to do these over here do you know where and would they be worth doing? Many thanks in advance.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

The common types of HIV in Thailand are E and B. They will be detected by conventional assays.
