clarification
Jul 15, 2001

Hey Mark, some guy posted a question that you answered indicating the pcr rna test was 100 accurate at 30 days.He wanted to know if the dna pcr had the same accuracy. Your response was where did you hear that? My question to you is if I gave blood at the red cross at 70 days post exposure could I rule out HIV if everything was negative.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

If all the testing the blood bank did on your donated blood resulted in negative results, then it is unlikely that HIV infection is present.
