HIV and Asthma
Jun 30, 2001
I am a 35 year old male with asthma and recently diagnosed with HIV. I haven't had an asthma attack since 15. Is HIV gonna make my asthma resurfaced? If the answer is yes, when will it happen? How do your patients with HIV cope with asthma? Should I begin medication early? Thank you very very much for answering.
Response from Dr. Holodniy
I do have patients with HIV and asthma. I can't really say that HIV in and of itself exacerbates asthma. Management of asthma in people with HIV infection is the same as for those without infection. Most asthma meds (particularly inhalers) don't have many side effects with HIV meds. MH
